Five years of learning, building, entertainment – and most importantly; friendship!

Big Brother, Tri has been matched to Little Brother, Joe for five incredible years and just recently received the BIG of the Year award for our Community-Based program. Tri contributes so much to Joe, his family, and our agency, and we are very lucky to have him as a Big Brother at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Langley!

Joe’s mother, Candy shared some thoughtful words about the match:
“It’s hard to believe Tri and Joe have been together for five years. They started as strangers and are now good friends with a lot of common interests, such as hockey games, ping pong, badminton, and especially electronics! We feel so grateful for all the time and love Tri has shared with Joe, not just a BIG, but also like a close family member. He shows understanding of Joe’s unique growing path and encourages me to embrace him with patience. He encourages Joe to develop his interest in electronics by doing projects together and Joe is now able to fix small home appliances with great skill. It is amazing to witness Joe’s development all these years, from kid to a teen, from shy to open, from insecure to confident. I can almost tell which parts are coming from Tri. ‘It takes a village to raise a child’, absolutely, Tri is an exceptional Big and our village for Joe.”
